Undrafted’s NFL Week 2 Predictions

Well there was a few surprises in the opening week of the NFL, the Texans actually won a game, the Lions don’t look awful and Sam Darnold got his revenge on the Jets (who still stink). There’s a few teams that were very impressive but was it down to their opposition? We’ll know in the next couple weeks what teams are genuine Super Bowl contenders. Let’s take a look at some week 2 matchups that could go either way.

San Francisco 49ers @ Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles were one of the stand out teams in week 1, and for good reason. Jalen Hurts looks like the real deal, 77.1% completion, 264 yards and 3 touchdowns. First round rookie DeVonta Smith started off with 6 receptions, 71 yards and a touchdown, which will give some relief to Eagles fans after having a poor receiver core for the last couple of seasons. Their defence also melted Matty ‘Ice’ Ryan, kept Calvin Ridley to a quiet game and made Kyle Pitts want to go back to Florida. They’ll have a much tougher match up this week but can they get the win?

The 49ers for the first 3 quarters looked like a real Super Bowl contender, what happened in the last 8 minutes was beyond me. Kyle Shanahan will be hoping that it was just an anomaly, and his defence wanted to let the Lions think they had a chance. Unfortunately for the 49ers, Raheem Mostert is now officially out for the season, which is a big blow for them. Elijah Mitchell the 6th round pick in the draft, broke the record for the first day three rookie to run for over 100 yards, not bad going. Will the 49ers defence hold together better this week vs the Eagles? I believe so, and yes the Eagles are a lot better than expected but for me there’s only one winner here.

Winner – San Francisco 49ers

Tennessee Titans @ Seattle Seahawks

The Titans were one of the teams I was looking forward to watching the most. Derrick Henry going for another 2,000 yard season, Tannehill with his new WR Julio Jones, and a defence that actually looked decent. I’m still trying to work out if the Titans were bad or if the Cardinals were insane, maybe it’s both. Next up they face a very difficult fixture in Seattle. Henry is going to have to bring his A game if they are going to take anything away from this one. Tannehill threw 35 times with a completion % of 60%, he is going to have to up his game for his team to stand a chance.

Now we move on to Seattle and Tyler Lockett reminding us that it’s not all about, born in the lab D.K. Metcalf. Lockett’s touchdown where he made a massive body adjustment to catch the ball was nothing short of incredible. Both WR’s managed 4 receptions each, racking up 160 yards and 3 touchdowns between them. The Seahawks again have a great team but in a tough division, how far they go is still the question, but they’ll go 2-0 and beat the Titans this weekend.

Winner – Seattle Seahawks

Dallas Cowboys @ Los Angeles Chargers

Dak Prescott is back ladies and gentleman. Although they failed to beat Super Bowl champs on the opening day, they seriously impressed me. Tom Brady just did Tom Brady things which is the reason why they’re going into week 2 with a 0-1 record. Dak managed 3 touchdowns and 403 yards in his first game back since his season ending ankle fracture last season. The Cowboys will be hoping Zeke can get back to running and not blocking now that guard, Zach Martin is back.

While Justin Herbert didn’t quite have the day that Dak did in week 1, it was not bad at all. 337 yards and a touchdown vs Washington Football Team is very respectable, and not many teams will be doing that this season. Ekeler and co were unable to really make an impact on the game only managing 90 yards. They should see a bit more production this week against a Cowboys defence that gave away 60 rushing yards off 15 attempts to a Buccs team, that is not known for running the ball. This will be a close one, and a high scoring one at that but I can see the Cowboys getting their first win of the season.

Winner – Dallas Cowboys

Betting odds – Money Line

San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks
Dallas Cowboys

Treble odds = 4.2/1

For only 3 teams, and the 3 better ones at that, 4.2/1 is incredible value.
