Undrafted’s NFL Week 1 Predictions

With the first game of the season literally hours away, we give you our predictions for 5 selected games that take place in Week 1. This will be a weekly fixture, along with the odds to our predictions, which hopefully means we’ll be making some money along the way.

Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It’s the first game of the new season and the Cowboys are on the road to Super Bowl champs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The seemingly immortal Tom Brady will be looking to start off his campaign with a win, and they certainly could’ve been dealt a tougher fixture. Dak Prescott has returned from injury and looks set for a solid year, with an above average wide receiver core. The Buccs should see off the Cowboys defence, although it has strengthened thanks to first round rookie Micah Parsons. Tom Brady will be as hungry as ever for another Super Bowl run and obtain his eighth ring.

Winner – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills

In what may be Big Ben’s last opening game of the season, Pittsburgh Steelers would’ve been hoping for an easier opening game than travelling to Buffalo to face the ever evolving Josh Allen. The Steelers drafted Najee Harris in the first round, and this kid looks the real deal. Ever since Le’Veon Bell left, they’ve not had the same threat that he had, Najee will change this. James Conner is a solid enough running back but never really seemed to be a game changer. Meanwhile over in Buffalo they have been focusing on building a Super Bowl winning defence with additions of Rousseau in the first round, as well as re signing Matt Milano to a lucrative $44 million, four year deal. It’s going to be a great spectacle but the Bills will win this one marginally and start their season as they mean to go on.

Winner – Buffalo Bills

Los Angeles Chargers @ Washington Football Team (WFT)

Now this game is one of the ones I’m most interested in this opening weekend. This game will be a perfect example of offence vs defence, but which one will come out on top? Offensive rookie of the year Justin Herbert will take on the defensive rookie of the year Chase Young, which one of them comes out on top will decide who wins this one. WFT have made some moves on offence by bringing in no other than Ryan Fitzmagic to guide the offence to a positive record for the first time since the 16/17 season. Los Angeles Chargers will go into week 2 with a 1-0 record and unfortunately WFT will be looking to bounce back vs the New York Giants in week 2.

Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs

One of the dark horses to win the Super Bowl vs the favourites to win the Super Bowl. This game could easily be the shaping of the season for both these teams, even this early on. The well rounded Browns will take on the enigma, which is Patrick Mahomes, as he will be looking to take his losing Super Bowl anger out on every single team that is put in his path. This will be one of the highest scoring games of the weekend, I have no doubt. The Chiefs just have too much firepower for Cleveland and maybe it is a year to early to say they are Super Bowl potential.

Winner – Kansas City Chiefs

Green Bay Packers @ New Orleans Saints

The league MVP Aaron Rodgers is back to face his long standing NFC rivals, New Orleans Saints, but this time they will be without future hall of famer, Drew Brees. Jameis Winston has been announced the starter for week 1, while I can imagine Taysom Hill will take some snaps, this new Saints offence will not be enough to beat the Packers this early on in the post Brees era. Aaron Rodgers is going to show everyone why he decided to play another season, and not become the host of Jeopardy!

Winner – Green Bay Packers

Betting Odds – Money Line

5 Fold accumulator = 5.47/1

Not a bad little bet to get the season started!
