Euro 2020 – Players Who Impressed Me – Group Stages

Now that the Euro 2020 group stages are nearly over, now is the perfect time to write this article.

Over the course of the three match days, I’ve been keeping track of the players that have really impressed me, with the majority playing outside the Champions League sides.

Now again this is only 3 matches where I’ve watched said players perform, however most have really impressed me. Most are progressing through to the knockout stages, so we will get to see more of them.

Let’s get into it!

Roman Yaremchuk – Ukraine / Gent

The big Ukrainian striker really impressed me during the group stages of Euro 2020.

His hold up play was exceptional, and he managed to find the back of the net numerous times too.

Ukraine aren’t the finest of international sides, which made Yaremchuk’s performances even more impressive.

Currently in Belgium playing for Gent, I really think he could end up in the Premier League one day soon, or another top European league.

Denzel Dumfries – Netherlands / PSV

Probably the best full back of the tournament so far, Denzel Dumfries is a revelation for Holland.

Both his solid defensive play, and his love of attacking saw him become a pivotal player for Oranjie.

With goals against both Ukraine and Austria, Dumfries helped his side cruise through to the knockout rounds.

Despite Dumfries playing for a solid Dutch side, he’s another who is pretty much guaranteed a move to a massive club.

It really wouldn’t surprise me to see him playing for PSG, Real Madrid or a similar club.

Manuel Locatelli – Italy / Sassuolo

I had Manuel Locatelli on this list before he ran the show against Switzerland.

A box to box midfielder, Locatelli was outstanding all tournament for Italy, and managed to rack up 2 goals during the group stages.

Currently at Sassuolo, I believe Juventus or another Italian giant will come in and snap him up.

Aaron Ramsey – Wales / Juventus

Now I know Aaron Ramsey is currently at The Old Lady, but his future is definitely in doubt.

One thing is for certain though. When he’s fully fit, he still retains his ability of being a sensational footballer.

Maybe a move back to former club Arsenal? Who have been screaming out for a ball playing midfielder. I hope to see Ramsey back in the Premier League very soon!

Leonardo Spinazzola – Italy / Roma

Like Ramsey, Spinazzola is currently at Italian giants Roma, but with Serie A not overly strong currently, he could easily secure a move to the Premier League.

Powerful going forward, and seemingly always in control at the back, he’s been a regular in the Italian side.

Any side needing a solid left back should immediately be in the market for Spinazzola.

Kieffer Moore – Wales / Cardiff

Kieffer Moore is a player who’s made his way up the English leagues very quickly.

Currently at Cardiff, the big Welshman is too good for the Championship.

He could quite easily start in the Premier League and is an ideal target man for a side like Burnley.

It’ll be interesting to see how far these players do make it in the knockout stages, and whether any i fact get snapped up during the summer transfer market.

I believe most will, and hope to see most of these players in the Prem very very soon!
