Undrafted – The Network

24 Nations, 24 Opinions. A Euro 2020 Preview.

Welcome to something a little different here at Undrafted.

Before the Euro’s, I came up with an idea. Rather than me writing a preview on all 24 teams competing this summer, let’s get 24 different people, from the 24 different countries to combine, and make a preview with 24 opinions.

Below we will have 24 different football fans from the different national teams, all giving their views on the best players, best youngsters, and prediction on where they’ll finish in the tournament.

Before we start, I’d like to say a massive thank you to all 24 of you who volunteered to take part in this article. I hope you all enjoy it!

Group A

Name: Mete Faks

Star Player: Burak Yilmaz

Rising Star: Omer Faruk Beyaz

How Far Will You Make It? Quite honestly, not very far. Turkish football seems to be getting worse day by day!

Name: Alberto Perraguila

Star Player: Ciro Immobile. Finally he is getting a lot of game time for Italy.

Rising Star: Would have to be Alessandro Bastoni. He has just won Serie A with Inter.

How Far Will You Make It? Honestly I do not know. I hope we do well and get to the last 8 or 4 teams and I will be happy.

Name: Sion Evans

Star Player: Gareth Bale

Rising Star: Joe Rodon

How Far Will You Make It? Last 16

Name: David Gloor

Star Player: Xherdan Shaqiri

Rising Star: Denis Zakaria

How Far Will You Make It? Anywhere past the groups will be a success!

Group B

Name: Victor Arnesen

Star Player: Christian Eriksen

Rising Star: Andreas Skov Olsen

How Far Will You Make It? I hope we can make it through the groups behind Belgium but it will be tough. If we can do that I will be very happy and who knows what will happen in the knockout stages.

Name: Matt Järvinen

Star Player: Teemu Pukki

Rising Star: We don’t really have a rising star. Our youngest player is probably Glen Kamara who plays for Rangers.

How Far Will You Make It? I think we will struggle to make it out the group stages if I’m honest.

Name: Thomas Janssens

Star Player: Romelu Lukaku. It used to be Eden Hazard but I am unsure if he will be fit enough.

Rising Star: Jeremy Doku

How Far Will You Make It? Semi Finals.

Name: Anton Pukov

Star Player: Artem Dzyuba

Rising Star: To be honest we do not have a young player who plays for Russia often. All of our players are around 24 and older. We have an ageing team.

How Far Will You Make It? I am confident we make it out of the group, however if we have to play a good team in the knockouts I fear we will lose.

Group C

Name: Jordie Reiuten

Star Player: Memphis Depay

Rising Star: Donyell Malen

How Far Will You Make It? Semi Final.

Name: Vlad Melnyk

Star Player: Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.

Rising Star: Anatolli Trubin. He’s a young goalkeeper but is number 1 for Shakhtar and Ukraine at just 19.

How Far Will You Make It? I hope we can come 2nd in our group but I think we’ll lose in the first knockout round.

Name: Tobias Jones

Star Player: David Alaba

Rising Star: Sasa Kalajdzic

How Far Will You Make It? We should definitely make it out the group. I’m not sure how far we make it after.

North Macedonia

Name: Chris Juffs (Unfortunately I was tough to find anyone from North Macedonia, so I will fill this one myself on what little knowledge I have on the side!

Star Player: Goran Pandev. What a legend! He’s been around the block a few times, but is still the standout striker for Macedonia.

Rising Star: Elif Elmas has featured for Napoli this season fairly often, and at just 21 he may have a bright future starting this summer.

How Far Will You Make It? I think they are slight underdogs to qualify. They may snatch 2nd place. If not then I think they’ll be out at the group stages.

Group D

Name: Jason Bateman

Star Player: Harry Kane. Although Phil Foden is on the scene the pressure still lands on Harry’s shoulders, without his goals this team will have struggle later on.

Rising Star: Phil Foden, this kid can be the major link between midfield and the forward line, he can play across the midfield and will aid Sterling, Rashford and Sancho along those areas. His ability to glide into areas gives his game goals as well.

How Far Will You Make It? I still worry about the defence, is it as strong as the French, the Italians when pressured not sure. Stones and a fit Maguire are the strongest two, and with only Keane, Coady and Walker as the back up then any injury for those two will be defining. In other areas we need to take Grealish if fit he gives you ball retention oh and the ability to flop in key areas which is annoying at club level but great for England.

I think again we could get to the semis again, the major forces apart from Belgium and France are all aging or transitioning so let’s cross fingers if we’re good on the day in knockouts.

Name: Steven Ruddy

Star Player: David Marshall

Young Star: Ross McCrorie

How Far Will You Make It? Knocked out at the group stages.

Name: Harry Seabridge

Star Player: Andrej Kramaric

Young Star: Josip Brekalo

How Far Will You Make It? Winners!

Czech Republic

Name: Pavel Cerny

Star Player: Tomas Soucek has been great for West Ham and is our star player.

Young Star: Lukas Provod is probably the best youngster we have.

How Far Will You Make It? It’s going to be tough to get out of the group, but we can hope!

Group E

Name: Adrian Ramon Ramos

Star Player: Ferran Torres

Young Star: Pedri

How Far Will You Make It? With such a young team, I am unsure. Hopefully final, but head says quarter finals.

Name: Johan Jansson

Star Player: Would normally be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, however with him injured it would have to be Emil Forsberg.

Young Star: We have some good young players. Alexander Isak is probably the best.

How Far Will You Make It? I think we will qualify from the group stages.

Names: Wojtek Cywiński

Star Player: Haha, I think that I cannot surprise you – Robert Lewandowski. In the opinion of many football fans – the best footballer in the world. Poles love him, Poles glorify him and Poles strongly believe that he will eventually lead our team to success.

Young Star: Jakub Moder. Ouch, difficult question – we don’t have clear young star, as Foden, Havertz, Sancho, Haaland, Felix etc. I would see Moder as a candidate to that name if it will be his tournament. He already plays in Premier League (Brighton), scored a goal against England at Wembley, but I don’t know if he will be an engine of Polish team. Polish fans count more on Lewandowski, Szczęsny, Glik, Krychowiak or Klich.

How Far Will You Make It? Our goal is to get out of the group – Spain and Sweden are favourites of group E, but if we won first match with Slovakia, no one knows what can happen. In 2016 we lost at quarterfinal with Portugal in penalties and that was clearly a success of our team. Personally I think, that if we qualify to playoff stage from second place in our group, there is a chance to play even in quarterfinal. I would be very happy.

Name: Marcin Novak

Star Player: Ondrej Duda

Young Star: David Strelec

How Far Will You Make It? I don’t think we will make it past the group stages if I’m brutally honest.

So there we have it! Opinions from all 24 teams in the Euro’s, from 24 different people!

I feel like you get more of an honest insight when you ask a fan of each team, who know more about their side than I do. This way we find the young talents for each side, and true expectations for the tournament.

Thank you again to everyone who participated, and best of luck to all your teams during the summer!
