Today’s guest is a hard as nails Dutchman.
Wilfred Bouma is currently working in his home country, as assistant manager at PSV U21’s.
Bouma started his illustrious playing career at his current side, PSV Eindhoven. He broke into the first team at just 16 years old.
Bouma actually began playing at Left Wing, before being placed at Left Back when Arthur Numan left to join Rangers.
After an initial 11 year spell at PSV, Bouma made the switch to the Premier League, joining Aston Villa in 2005.
Bouma soon became a fan favourite at Villa Park during his 5 years in Birmingham, before moving back to his boyhood PSV to finish his career.
Bouma also made a stunning 37 international appearances for the Netherlands, scoring 2 goals, including his first at Euro 2004 against Czech Republic.
Growing up, did you collect any kind of trading cards/stickers?
Yes I did! We used to swap the panini stickers around when I was younger.
Have you ever owned a trading card of yourself?
Yes I have actually. It made me very proud knowing that I used to collect them and now I’m a part of them.
Best part of being a professional footballer?
That I managed to make my dream come true! I also loved playing in front of so many people!
A massive thank you to Wilfred Bouma for signing my cards.
Hopefully we will see him return to the U.K. in a coaching capacity in the near future!
