Biggest Steals in the 2021 NFL Draft

Every year there are players that seem to slip through the cracks and turn out to be great players! Here’s my list of the Biggest Steals in the 2021 NFL Draft!

Jaylen Waddle-Receiver-Alabama

Hear me out on this one. I know he is, in most people’s opinion, wide receiver 3 in the class. However, in my opinion he is the best receiver in the class. Mock drafts have Waddle as falling to picks in the 11-15 range . Waddle’s Alabama team mate and Heisman winner DeVonta Smith is going as high as 2 in some Mock Drafts. It’s not just his own teammates being ranked above him it’s also LSUs Ja’Marr Chase.

There is a classic phrase “speed kills” and Waddle has it in abundance running a 4.27 40 time. However, if you think Waddle is just a speed guy that’s where you are wrong. Waddle has a great catch radius of someone his size and is able to make impressive, contested catches for being 5’10. He is also an excellent route runner who creates separation constantly due to his speed. This is why in my opinion he would be suited to the Giants in order to make throws much easier on quarterback Daniel Jones. Waddle is also an incredible player with the ball in his hands as he is able to change direction so quickly. The only player who is arguably better after the catch is Florida’s own Kadarius Toney.

Tommy Tremble-Tight End-Notre Dame

The 20 year old Notre Dame tight end declared for the draft due to being unhappy about how he was being used . Tremble is 6’4, 248 pounds and received the highest run blocking grade of any tight end in the country with 83.7%!

Although Tremble wasn’t used a lot in the passing game, he is an athletic monster and is one of the best 3 tight ends in the class. Testing well at his pro day may he may start to rise up draft boards. The junior would be able to be an excellent swiss army knife at the next level. The perfect landing spot for Tremble would be the Pittsburgh Steelers as it would see him join former teammate Chase Claypool. The earliest I can see Tremble going would be late round 2, however due to him not being used in the passing game this year I could see him falling round 4.Tremble has the ability to be one of the best Steals of the 2021 NFL Draft

Jordan Smith-Linebacker-UAB Blazers

Jordan Smith is a 6’7 , 255 pound linebacker/defensive end who is simply not getting enough attention. He was originally supposed to play for the Florida Gators . Due to a credit card fraud scam he had to play football for Butler Community College before playing for UAB.

The athletic monster performed well at the Senior Bowl .During one on ones Smith embarrassed first round projected tackle Alex Leatherwood. One of my only concerns with Smith is that sometimes he will rely on being more athletic than the tackle. He will not get away with that at the next level, he showed signs of improved hands during the Senior Bowl. I think if a team can pick him up in the third round then it is a massive steal.

Deonte Brown-Guard-Alabama

What team wouldn’t want a guard that hasn’t allowed a single sack in 3 seasons for Alabama (865 snaps!). To put it simply Brown is 350 pounds and it shows as this guy doesn’t get moved.

Brown has shown limited flexibility and quickness. This is one of the reasons Brown should try and slim down to around 325 pounds . Brown has been shown in some mocks to drop to early third round. I think if any team can get him in the second round or later it will be a massive steal!

Israel Mukuamu-Cornerback-South Carolina

Although the 6’4 corner didn’t have the best end to his college career due to injury problems. Mukuamu has went under the radar due to teammate and fellow corner Jaycee Horn also declaring for the draft. Mukuamu doesn’t just play on the boundary he can also line up in the slot. He can also play in the box or as an over the top safety making him extremely versatile.

Mukuamu can sometimes struggle to flip his hips however he is able to make up for it by being physical. He also possess great recovery speed and excellent ball skills even getting a one handed pick against Florida’s Kyle Trask. If a team is able to pick him outside the first round then it is a massive steal!

Jaylen Twyman-Defensive Tackle-Pittsburgh

Twyman was most likely going to be a first round pick before opting out of his last year at Pittsburgh. The 6’2 DT generated a lot of pressure from the interior, racking up 10.5 sacks alongside 12 tackles for loss. He doesn’t quite have the ideal size however makes up for it by being quicker.

Twyman celebrating after a sack!

Twyman has a massive ceiling and he has the potential to become a dynamic pass rusher and run defender. He will likely be a third round player which would make him one of the Biggest Steals in the 2021 NFL Draft!

Check out this mock draft to see if any of these players go in the first round!

Let us know who you think will be a steal in this years draft!
