Who is Headed to Miami?

It’s almost that time of year again! The National Championship Game is right around the corner and I am excited to see who’s going to take home some hardware. Four teams are on the path to Miami, however, only two teams can play on the ultimate stage. The two semi-final games will be played on Friday, January 1st. The Alabama Crimson Tide will be taking on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is usually played in Sunny Los Angeles, California, however, due to covid and health concerns in California, the Rose Bowl game has moved to the Lone Star State of Texas. For the second semi-final game, the Clemson Tigers and The Ohio State Buckeyes will be battling it out at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. I have asked some of the Undrafted Team members on who they think will end up in Miami and who they think will come home with some hardware.

ALABAMA VS. NOTRE DAME- 56-21 (ALABAMA)

I don’t think this is even gonna be close. I’ve watched Notre Dame this season and I like their defense, up until they played Clemson the second time! They got exposed and Alabama is a big play, deep ball offense that will rip them to pieces if they play like that again. They had to score 47 to beat Clemson in the first match up , and they’ll have to score 55-60 to beat Alabama this week. Can’t see it happening. They don’t have enough guys like stand-out linebacker Jeremiah Owes- Koramoah who’s been great to watch… but Alabama should tear them apart.

CLEMSON VS. OHIO STATE- 42-17 (CLEMSON)

A lot of controversy here. Should OSU even be allowed in? Four cupcake match ups. Walks in the park. And the two ranked teams? Barely beat Indiana, and the Northwestern game was ugly as hell. I like Clemson to pull away in this one. Ohio State would need to be perfect across the board and if they’re slightly shaky like they and Fields were against Northwestern, it’ll get ugly.

And the final? I really don’t know. Should be a great game. Plenty of big plays, lots of points. One last dance for Trevor Lawrence, the most hyped man in football. This game will come down to mistakes and turnovers. They’re both capable of scoring on every drive, so when the mistakes creep in, someone will fall behind. I’m going with Saban and the Tide.

ALABAMA VS. NOTRE DAME- 45-38 (NOTRE DAME)

Notre Dame has handled its business all season, including taking down the number 2 ranked Clemson and winning by less than two scores only twice. They have been really great all season until last week losing the ACC Championship game to same Clemson, they beat earlier this year.

Alabama are Alabama, every year they seem to be competitive and in and around the mix. This year however Bama have a only faced 3 ranked teams and Florida, a team who had lost twice before the game last week, pushed them extremely close putting 46 points on them and making them look vulnerable.

Winner – Notre Dame – 45-38.

Notre Dame are an interesting prospect, especially as an outside bet for the college playoffs. They have all the tools to go far and with Alabama having lost out in the playoffs for the last two years they will unfortunately come up short again. Notre Dame by 7.

CLEMSON VS. OHIO STATE- 44-15 (CLEMSON)

Clemson are coming off another great season and are led by the consensus number 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. They have been strong all year, faltering only once against fellow playoff participants Notre Dame. Important to note however, golden boy Trevor Lawrence did not play in the loss, returning for the ACC championship, exacting revenge on Notre Dame by 24 points.

Ohio State played 6 games this year, let that sink in, 6 total games to get them the third seed in the College football playoffs. Two of those 6 games were won by one score and in both games, they were out scored in the second half. Taking the lead in a game and then holding on for dear life is not the way a champion win.

Winner – Clemson – 44-15.

Trevor Lawrence will want to end his college career on a high, especially after losing the big game last year and playing quite poorly. Ohio State have not shown any reason to trust them as a playoff team and I think Clemson will blow them off the field.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME- NOTRE DAME VS. CLEMSON

Notre Dame vs. Clemson has been played out twice this year, with one win each, however the key to this season’s rivalry, Trevor Lawrence. He is, for good reason, the main headline of this year’s playoffs, especially since he is the consensus number 1 pick and will want to go out on top. Without him Clemson lost but still put up 40 points, with him, they were dominant in their winning of the ACC championship game.

ADAM H.

ALABAMA VS. NOTRE DAME (ALABAMA)

Mac Jones has been somewhat of a revelation this year and supported by a stellar cast headed by Najee Harris (2 rushing TD’s and 1 receiving) and DeVonta Smith (2 receiving TD’s) Bama will score early and often. Ian Book and Co will put up some response early on but this will fall away by the middle of the third Alabama cruise (relatively speaking) to the Final.

CLEMSON VS. OHIO STATE (CLEMSON)

Trevor Lawrence hasen’t lost a college game (outside of the one Final loss to LSU) yet and I don’t see it happening in this game. Justin Fields will do all he can with, Chris Olave (2 receiving TD’s) lending a hand, but will not be able to cover for the Big Ten’s worst pass defense. A shoot-out, yes, but one which the Tigers come out on the right side of. After showing it against Notre Dame, Lawrence (5 passing TD’s) shows just how important he is to these Tigers.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME- ALABAMA VS.CLEMSON

The smart money appears to be on Alabama in this one. I just can’t get past the narrative that Trevor Lawrence wants to go out on a high, as per my previous comments, he has not lost a college game that was not a National Final to this point and I just don’t see him falling at the final hurdle for a second year in a row. Driven by a desire to atone for last years loss he goes off for 4 Passing TD’s in a close game that Clemson pulls out by 8 at the end. Mac Jones does not have the experience of this game as a starter and the pressure gets to him as he offers up two interceptions, one on the attempted game winning drive in the final 3 minutes.

ALABAMA VS. NOTRE DAME (ALABAMA)

Bama will outclass Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish have had a fantastic season, played some great football and managed to get one over a depleted Clemson but I fear the worst for them against a Ba side that has barely broken a sweat yet.

CLEMSON VS. OHIO STATE (CLEMSON)

Clemson will have a challenge with Ohio State but Trevor Lawrence will want to top what’s been an incredible college career and this is just another hurdle in the way. Ohio have been blessed with being put in a playoff position after only six games, robbing a deserved Florida. I hope Clemson put on a show.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME- ALABAMA VS. CLEMSON

If not for COVID, Clemson would’ve a perfect record. Bama will come out. Firing all cylinders but the Offensive semi-truck driven by Lawrence will  be too much for Bama to handle. Bama has shown their defensive vulnerability against Florida and I think this will just be too much for them.

Adz has Clemson winning the National Championship Game. GO TIGERS!!

I must say that I think we will see yet another Alabama and Clemson matchup! I think the two most dominant yet disciplined teams in college football have to be the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers. The Tigers do have an advantage with QB Trevor Lawrence appearing in several National Championship games. This will be Alabama QB Mac Jones’s first National Championship game, so expect some mistakes from the quarterback. Even though Clemson has the more experienced QB in Trevor Lawrence, I just have to go with the TIDE winning this ball game. I believe Alabama has what it takes to hand Trevor Lawrence and the Tigers their second loss of the season. It will be a very close ball game in my opinion, but at the end of the day, I am picking Alabama as the National Champions.

Well, there you have it. It looks like a majority of the Undrafted team is crowing Clemson as the National Champs. With Alex and I picking the Tide, Tom, Adam and Adz have picked the Clemson Tigers to win it all. Who do you guys think will win it all. Leave your comments in the comment section. I hope you all have a very happy new year and stay safe everyone. Don’t forget to catch the National Championship game on Monday, January 11th on ESPN. HAPPY WATCHING!!
