Rex’s 5 Things (Week 8)… £400 bet.

Well here we go boys and girls, the big one.

I posted last week about a bet i’d placed, which returned £1,100. I lost the bet, but haven’t yet lost the war. Bet365 granted me over £400 in bet credits, and today were placing them. It’s a big day, it could mean a lot of money, but it’s also a total FREE ROLL! So let’s have some fun with it! I’ve kept it fairly simple, because of course, it’s a very large bet, and we don’t want to lose. So play along if you want!

Chargers Broncos Over (44)

Both teams are at full strength offensively, near enough. Austin Ekeler is still out for the Chargers, but Joshua Kelley can carry the load. Neither are missing their weapons, and with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and the way Justin Herberts been playing I have every faith the LA Chargers can put up some points today.

As for the Broncos, KJ Hamler, Jerry Jeudy, Melvin Gordon, Noah Fant. If Drew Lock can get it going today, then they too can score plenty of points.

I believe in this one because both teams are heavily depleted on defence, which is a match made in heaven for point scoring. The Chargers are without Derwin James, who they lost in training for the season. Chris Harris is on IR, Desmond King is out. So that’s almost the entire starting secondary, out. They of course, have a great pass rush, but If the Broncos can get the ball out, we’re good.

The Broncos have quite the opposite problem, with injuries across their front seven. Jurrell Casey, Von Miller, Mike Purcell, Mark Barron, among others, all sidelined. Pressure could be an issue, the Chargers have a good line, and I like that for giving Herbert time to score points.

The over at 44 points, i’m game for points.

Rams Dolphins Over (46)

The beginning of the Tua era in Miami, and this looks to me like a game that’s going to be close. I like our odds of winning, our line will need to hold up, and if they do, Tua will put on a display to silence the critics he never should have had in the first place. The feeling coming out of Miami, from what the players are saying about him, is that what we’re about to see is incredibly special.

I’m putting my faith in the Dolphins showing up, and this game being a toe to toe, touchdown heavy game. I just like the way it feels. The over at 46, and for that I just need one team to hit 30 points.

Some might call it bias, hell maybe it is, but I believe in Tua, and I hope he shows out today, and shows everybody exactly who he is and what he’s capable of. People are climbing all over Justin Herbert & Joe Burrow, and in their haste have forgotten how good Tua Tagovailoa is. Today should serve as a reminder.

Colts Lions Over (50)

For some reason, in my head this ones got shootout written all over it. I really don’t know why, so i’m not going to try and justify it, I went with my gut, and here we are… You do crazy things when you’re laying down £400 on a bet.

These over/unders are designed to be a 50/50 chance, based on statistics so far in the season. So i’m taking that chance on these three games to clear the Over. And then I went with two certainties that I feel very good about…

Titans to beat Bengals

Clear favourites, no spread, no over under on this one. Just the Titans to win. They travel to Cincy, coming off a very close game with the Steelers, who might just have the best defence in the league.

The Bengals, although improving, and Burrow looking solid in his rookie season, don’t have that same level of ability on defence. The loss of DJ Reader is big for their defensive line, and certainly won’t help with Derrick Henry rolling into town. Titans should win this one, if they don’t, well then i’d be sad.

Chiefs to beat the Jets

I think my odds of winning the lottery are better odds than the Jets winning this game. I shouldn’t have said this, because now i’ve jinxed it. But even with a jinx, the Jets are still going to get smoked. It’s Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Kelce, Hardman, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Le’Veon Bell, and the rest of the crew, and they’re facing the New York Jets.

If this is the one of the five that lets me down you might just never see me again.

The Bet

And here it is… £400 in bet credits, over £3600 return. I’ll be recording my reaction. Let’s have ourselves a day. I’m nervous, but also excited, and need to remember that this bet actually only ever cost me a tenner.
