The XFL actually made a decent run of things earlier this year, and due to COVID complications which led to a loss of revenue, it had to fold. BUT, it’s back, and can you saaaamellllllll, what the Rock is cookin?
A player tested positive after making an appearance for the Seattle Dragon’s on the 7th March, which led to the cancellation of the regular season games, and then ultimately, the league.
It was actually a sad sight for what was a developing league that had seemed to do everything right. I even watched a few games myself. They weren’t trying to be the NFL. It had it’s differences, and some standout performances and good decisions, like putting a team in St Louis, filling the void the Rams left behind, led to good numbers in attendance.
Sadly it all came to an end, but Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is bringing it back to life, and has announced on twitter today that it will return in Spring 2022. Sounds like a smart decision giving them enough time to get everything prepared correctly, and not rushing back into it. Let’s hope COVID has well and truly crawled up it’s own black hole and died by then. I WANT TO GO TO SPORTING EVENTS IN THE US OF A.
The Rock being the presence that he is, and having the immense following and support around the world should work wonders for the XFL. What an achievement for him to build himself such a platform, show many talents and get to the point where he can co own a whole damn league. My mans playing real life ballers.
Good for the Rock, good for football, and many opportunities for young athletes who need another shot at the big time.
