The Yankees took it down last night in a wildly exciting finish against the Red Sox. Sitting pretty in the 8th inning 7-6 up, the Sox had it all to lose, and that’s exactly what they did.
DJ LaMahieu clutched a base hit up the middle to tie the game at 7-7, and all of a sudden it’s game on and Aaron Judge is back on the plate.
Judge had already clapped a home run earlier in the night, which meant he’d hit 5 in the last 5 games, which was the first time a Yankee has done so since Alex Rodriguez in ’07.
The second of the night was absolutely belted 468 feet and Judge’s teammates were celebrating it like crazed Yankee fans themselves. The moonshot put the Yankees up 9-7 and that’s the way it finished.
Judge is looking healthy, obviously feeling himself and swinging the bat well, and at 6 foot 7, 280 pounds with the way he’s swinging right now… I feel sorry for the twig in his hand. Oh, and the Red Sox.
In a great game of back and forth belters, I must give Xander Bogaerts an honourable mention. Looking like a stud himself Bogaerts went 4-4 last night, including two homers himself. A great night for the man, which i’m sure will be tough to take a loss on. Rafael Devers made a couple of crazy plays, before topping his night off with a nice homie of his own. But it wasn’t enough, and Judge brought home the dub.
The Yanks are looking good, Judge is balling, and Stanton has been on fire. Let’s see what kind of run they can put together.
