Timo Werner – The Pace Noob
The speculation over who will be Timo Werner’s next club has intensified in recent weeks. Originally it looked like he was going to be joining Liverpool but Chelsea have supposedly secured a deal for one of the most exciting young players in the Bundesliga….. not that Liverpool need any more bloody firepower, I’m sure they’ll cope.
The blues have reportedly all but wrapped up a £53 million deal for the 24 year old Germany international. The striker has enjoyed a remarkable season in front of goal and has enhanced his reputation as one of the finest young attackers in the game. Having already secured Ziyech in January who is set to link up with Chelsea when the transfer window reopens, could Werner be the next piece of the jigsaw puzzle for my boys in blue? If he’ manages to be as bullshit and as much of a pace noob as he is on Fifa Ultimate Team then GG.
Lets look at his player statistics for the Bundesliga’s 2019/2020 season.
It is clear to see from the stats above that Werner is irreplaceable for RB Leipzig. Always fit, and always starting. His contributions in terms of goals and assists will require his current team to sign multiple players to match that monumental goal haul. He has scored 92 goals in 155 games in four seasons at Leipzig.
Werner’s intelligent movement, searing pace, and lethal finishing will be massively welcomed at the Bridge. I’m not sure Tammy Abraham has it in him to single handily fire Chelsea to a Premier League title. Tammy just hasn’t quite got that killer instinct and big player characteristic yet that we’ve seen previously in Diego Costa and Didier Drogba. The signing of Werner would take the pressure off him to deliver all the goals and provide him with competition for the starting berth.
